Honor Those Who Make A Difference with #WhoPowersYou
They inspire, motivate and empower members of our co-op communities. And yet, they never ask for recognition for the impact they have on the lives they touch.
United Cooperative Services, in partnership with Touchstone Energy Cooperatives, is pleased to announce the second annual #WhoPowersYou Contest, honoring local heroes and celebrating the power of human connections.
Beginning Oct. 2, 2017, United members and employees can nominate a person, such as a teacher, a coach, a community leader, etc., who makes a difference in the co-op community. In addition to receiving national recognition, winners may be awarded up to $5,000 for a cause they champion.
To nominate a local hero in United's service territory, members and employees can go to whopowersyou.com and submit their nominee’s name, photo and a brief description of how that person makes a difference. The page also contains a list of contest rules at the bottom below the nomination form.
Nominations opened on Oct. 2 and must be submitted by midnight on Nov.4. Only members of a Touchstone Energy Cooperative, including those in United Cooperative Services territory, are eligible to be nominated. Winners will be announced in December. An independent panel of judges will select winners based upon the positive impact they make on the community, creativity of the entry and the number of votes they receive.
Prize money totaling $9,000 will be awarded to the following winners:
- Grand Prize Winner: $5,000
- Second Place: $2,000
- Third Place: $1,500
- Honorable Mention: $500
Touchstone Energy Cooperatives launched the #WhoPowersYou Contest in 2016 to honor people making a powerful impact in their communities. The first contest received thousands of votes from across the country for 62 local heroes in Touchstone Energy’s cooperative communities.
